In a cohort of 156 patients with suspected sepsis [23], 96 of whom had bacterial infection, AUROCs for diagnosis of bacterial sepsis were 0.72 for PCT, 0.81 for CRP and only 0.50 for suPAR levels, suggesting that suPAR was of less value for diagnosis than these other biomarkers. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is Sepsis.
