Given the established central role of CD4+ T cells in immunity against TB, and the recent identification and description of a variety of roles for multifunctional T cells expressing IFN-γ, TNF-α and IL-2 in a number of disease and vaccination models [5], [8], [9], [10], [19]; we sought to develop a flow cytometry panel which would allow the identification and assessment of multifunctional T cells in cattle. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and tuberculosis.
