Gangadharan et al. found a decrease in several proteins, including apolipoprotein L1, prealbumin, albumin, haptoglobin and complement components, whereas other proteins, such as CD5 antigen-like (CD5L), 2-macroglobulin and immunoglobulin components, were induced in fibrosis when they studied the serum proteome of HCV patients with varying levels of fibrosis and healthy controls, using 2-DE and LC with Q-TOF MS/MS [76]. This evidence concerns the gene TTR and fibrosis.
