IgE, like hs-CRP, might serve as a biomarker of inflammation in CHD, as shown in a recent study from a group in Pakistan: 99 patients with a history of ischemic heart disease (IHD) and established atherosclerosis on angiography showed increased serum levels of oxidized LDL and IgE, compared with those in 101 age-matched and sex-matched healthy subjects without a known history of IHD [44]. The gene discussed is IGHE; the disease is atherosclerosis.
