PLOD1 and hypogonadism: Considering both serum total T and LH levels, the patients were grouped according to their gonadal status in four categories : a) eugonadism with normal serum T≥300 ng/dL and LH (1.4≤LH≤8.9 mIU/mL): 929 subjects (70%); b) compensated hypogonadism with normal serum T≥300 ng/dL and elevated LH (>8.9 mIU/mL): 184 subjects (14%); c) secondary hypogonadism with low serum T<300 ng/dL and low (<1.4 mIU/mL) to normal (1.4≤LH≤8.9 mIU/mL) serum LH: 183 subjects (14%); and d) primary hypogonadism with low serum T<300 ng/dL and elevated LH (>8.9 mIU/mL): 29 (2%) subjects (Table 4).
