On the basis of these observations, since the release of MMPs from glial cells may represent a key event in the pathogenesis of HIV-associated demyelination, we investigated whether CCR5 antagonist MVC was able to modulate the activity and/or the expression of gelatinases A (MMP-2) and B (MMP-9) released from glial cells. This evidence concerns the gene MMP2 and Peripheral demyelination.
