Here we conducted a comprehensive longitudinal study of cellular responses, focusing on IFNγ production by multiple subsets of innate and adaptive immune cells, induced by both P. falciparum sporozoites (PfSpz) and asexual blood-stage parasites (P. falciparum-infected red blood cells; PfRBC) in malaria-naïve volunteers undergoing single or multiple experimental infections with P. falciparum. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is malaria.
