The Bax and BCL-2 PCR analysis demonstrate that the simvastatin treatment, in five different types of cancer cells, induce apoptotic death, characterized by an increase in the expression of the pro-apoptotic gene Bax and, at the same time, a decrease in the expression of the anti-apoptotic gene BCL-2 compared to the untreated control cells. The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is cancer.
