AMD1 and age-related macular degeneration: Transcriptomic data tend to highlight a slight increase in expression of the related gene AMD1 (data not shown), but this increase is not statistically significant, suggesting that the sharp increase in AMP deaminase activity, like the one reported for AMD in Rhodosporidium toruloides[7], may also be induced by posttranslational modifications rather than through transcriptional control.
