Mutations in PARK7 can cause autosomal recessive parkinsonism, and the clinical presentation of the early onset and slow progression of this form of parkinsonism is similar to that of the other recessive PD syndromes such as PARK2 (parkin) and PARK6 (PTEN-induced kinase 1, PINK1) [9].
