Chromosome 1 (Chr1) disomy was a common signature of FLCR strains, and two of the genes resident on this chromosome were shown to be important for FLC resistance: ERG11 (cytochrome P450 lanosterol 14α-demethylase), which is the target of FLC, and AFR1 (antifungal resistance 1, [36]), which is the major ATP binding cassette (ABC) transporter of azoles in C. neoformans[35]. The gene discussed is ABCG2; the disease is fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma.
