In light of these controversies and gaps in available literatures, we aimed to systematically investigate: 1) whether snoring frequency was related with various inflammatory markers (CRP, IL-6, IL-18 and lipopolysaccharide binding protein [LBP]) and adipokines (high-molecular-weight [HMW]-adiponectin and leptin); 2) whether snoring frequency was associated with MetS and to what extent that the association could be explained by lifestyle factors, adiposity status, inflammatory markers and adipokines in apparently healthy Chinese men and women. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
