Several alterations, such as that in the 7q36.1-7q36.3 region (sometimes amplified in non responsive patients), appear interesting as a number of important genes map there; these genes are mainly involved in transcription, cell-cell signalling, chromosome stability and DNA repair, cell growth, differentiation and oncogenic transformation, e.g. MLL3 and XRCC2, known to be altered in colorectal cancer [34,35]. The gene discussed is XRCC2; the disease is colorectal cancer.
