HP and type 1 diabetes mellitus: Similar to the above findings, the Hp 2-2 polymorphism predicted development of CAC (a change in CAC volume from 0 to ≥ 6.25 or in square root transformed CAC volume from 0 to ≥ 2.5) only in subjects with type 1 diabetes free of CAC at the baseline examination when adjusting for age and sex (OR: 2.03, 95% CI: 1.13-3.65, p = 0.02), and when additionally adjusting for systolic blood pressure and HDL cholesterol (OR: 1.95, 95% CI: 1.07-3.56, p = 0.03) compared to those without the Hp 2-2 polymorphism (Table 3).
