In the present study, we followed a similar strategy, focusing on the expression of HSP70, because we had recently reported that expression of HSP70 protects against bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis through cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects and, by inhibiting the production of TGF-β1 and TGF-β1-dependent EMT of lung epithelial cells [35]. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is pulmonary fibrosis.
