The multifactorially adjusted HR of lung cancer for a doubling of CRP levels was 1.35 (95% CI: 1.17–1.56), while further adjustment for YKL-40 levels resulted in a similar HR of 1.35 (1.16–1.57) (Figure 2; likelihood ratio test between models, P=0.99). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is lung cancer.
