KDR and melanoma: Both native and oversulfated FCSPs have been tested for their anti-angiogenic actions in vivo and for their in vitro anti-proliferative effects against B16 melanoma cells, Sarcoma-180 and Lewis lung carcinoma cells: The interaction of oversulfated FCSPs with VEGF165 occurred with high affinity and resulted in the formation of highly stable complexes, thereby interfering with the binding of VEGF165 to vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2).
