However, mapping of locus at chromosome 2q35 i.e. a locus known to be associated with ulcerative colitis (UC) and sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), has revealed an overall association between the GP-BAR1 single-nucleotide polymorphism, rs11554825, and PSC (odds ratio = 1.1; p = 0.010) and UC (odds ratio = 1.19, p = 8.5×10−7), thought that strong linkage disequilibrium precluded further demarcation of GP-BAR1 from neighboring genes [14]. Here, GPBAR1 is linked to sclerosing cholangitis.
