HAS2 and osteosarcoma: In osteosarcoma, antisense inhibition of HAS2 suppressed HA retention and tumourigenicity (Nishida et al, 2005), and administration of HA oligosaccharides inhibited endogenous HA deposition via interaction with CD44, a cell-surface receptor of HA, resulting in suppression of the tumourigenicity of two osteosarcoma cell lines (Hosono et al, 2007).
