In rodent studies, diisobutylphthalate shows some evidence of affecting obesity via PPAR pathways (Boberg et al. 2008), but evidence for other phthalates, including diethylhexyl phthalate, is less consistent (Casals-Casas et al. 2008; Feige et al. 2010). This evidence concerns the gene PPARA and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
