Duan et al. [38] studied the effect of rosiglitazone in cardiomyocyte-specific PPAR-γ knock-out mouse model and in control mice and observed that rosiglitazone causes cardiac hypertrophy in both models, however more pronounced in the control mice, suggesting also a partially PPAR-γ independent mechanism responsible for the hypertrophic effects. The gene discussed is PPARG; the disease is cardiac hypertrophy.
