In doubtful neonatal situations, including unexplained hypoglycemia, and in case of low plasma concentrations of ACTH and cortisol despite the hypoglycemia, we give Hydrocortisone® per os (1 mg three times a day) and evaluate its effect on the blood glucose, and reassess ACTH and cortisol at 8 a.m. later. Here, POMC is linked to Hypoglycemia.
