Supportive evidence for a role for Cav-1 in proper vascular regulation comes from studies involving Cav-1 KO animals, which demonstrate dysregulated eNOS synthesis, increased vascular permeability, cardiomyopathy, and pulmonary hypertension [65, 66], all of which are rescued upon reintroduction of Cav-1 back into the endothelium [66, 67].
