It should be noted that 6/7 of affected genes during active TB are not targeted by our identified miRNAs, including some genes with highest degree of differential expression between active TB and latent TB such as CD64, LTF and RAB33A, these genes may be targeted by some miRNAs yet to be identified, also there may be other post-transcriptional regulation such as RNA binding proteins .The miRNA-Gene –Network for these 12 miRNAs and 111 genes reveals the high regulatory role of miR-424, which targets 37 genes in the network.
