Proteinuria and transient elevation of serum alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase concentrations were found for 3× more B. miyamotoi patients than B. garinii patients (51% and 68% vs. 15% and 20%, respectively, p<0.01), but no nephritis or hepatitis was clinically apparent. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and hepatitis A virus infection.
