Moreover, when the frequencies of HLA-C genotypes were analyzed among chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and HCC diagnostic groups, one copy of HLA-C1 (HLA-C1C2) was found associated with liver cirrhosis (vs chronic hepatitis; OR = 2.21; p = 0.01; vs HCC; OR = 2.95; p = 0.001), two copies of HLA-C1 (HLA-C1C1) were found more frequently in HCC patients than that in the patients with liver cirrhosis (HCC vs cirrhosis OR = 0.34, p = 0.001) (table S2 and figure 1). This evidence concerns the gene HLA-C and hepatocellular carcinoma.
