DLAT and primary biliary cholangitis: Sera from patients with PBC have been reported to react with both human and Escherichia coli pyruvate dehydrogenase complex E2 (PDC-E2) [10], and such reactivity of antimitochondrial antibodies (AMAs) to both human and bacterial molecules has stimulated speculations that PBC may be induced by exposure to enterobacterial antigens, perhaps by sharing molecular mimicry with mitochondrial antigens in PBC.
