AFP and neoplasm: Of the entire cohort of patients, the AJCC (P < 0.001) and BCLC tumor stage (P < 0.001), serum PIVKA-II level (P < 0.001), AFP level (P = 0.008), portal vein thrombosis (P < 0.001), and platelet count (P = 0.0004) were significantly associated with the presence of extrahepatic metastases based on univariate analyses (Table 2).
