The term pulmonary mucinous adenocarcinoma (PMC) was first coined by Devaney et al. in 1989, to describe a cystic adenocarcinoma with extracellular mucin [5] and with malignant cells floating in the mucin or lining and infiltrating the fibrous wall. This evidence concerns the gene MUC5AC and paramyotonia congenita of Von Eulenburg.
