Similarly the STRIDE and SAPIT trials showed that combined and earlier ART and TB treatment (two to four weeks after TB treatment initiation) reduced deaths and AIDS-related events by 42% and 68%, respectively, among those with CD4 counts of less than 50 cells/mm3 when compared with ART initiation within eight to 12 weeks of TB treatment [44,45].
