In recent years, several studies have shown that sodium 4-phenylbutyrate (4-PBA) can partially restore the cellular trafficking of a mutated ABCC7/CFTR (ΔF508) and parts of its cellular function were restored in both cultured cells and human cystic fibrosis patients [24], [25], [26], though how much phenotype improvement was achieved is less clear. Here, CFTR is linked to cystic fibrosis.
