When we gated the CD4+CD25+CD127low/− cells, we found that when this cell population was derived from CHF patients, irrespective of the etiology, there was a significantly higher percentage of apoptotic annexin V+7-AAD− cells than when derived from non-CHF controls (non-CHF vs. CHF patients: 8.79±3.37% vs. 14.78±4.08%, p<0.01; Figure 4A). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is congestive heart failure.
