Zhou et al. found that chemokines such as CCL19, chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand (CXCL)12 and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 are upregulated in plaques of psoriasis compared with skin from healthy individuals, although it is unclear from the study as to whether there was any alteration in the uninvolved skin.27 Quantification of chemokines and ligands within the uninvolved skin would thus be of interest with respect to the retention of LCs within uninvolved skin. This evidence concerns the gene CCL2 and psoriasis.
