Comparison of physical and laboratory data showed higher peak body temperature (BT), leukocyte count and C reactive protein (CRP) in ALA cases (Table 2) and perforative peritonitis cases (data not shown) compared with colitis cases, indicating that high fever, leukocytosis and high CRP could be the signs of extraluminal amebiasis. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is amebiasis.
