Although the expression of VEGF family and the Ang/Tie2 receptor family correlates with clinical features and outcome in several solid cancers and haematological malignancies (Toi et al, 1994; O’Brien et al, 1995; Takahashi et al, 1995; Salven et al, 1998; Aguayo et al, 1999, 2002; Etoh et al, 2001; Tanaka et al, 2002; Sfiligoi et al, 2003; Chung et al, 2006), little is known about the prognostic implication of the expression of these angiogenic factors in MDS. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and myelodysplastic syndrome.
