The multifunctions of curcumin in downregulating EGFR and HER-2 oncoproteins, reducing the phosphorylation of Akt and MAPK and suppressing NF-κB activation, led to interest in using curcumin in the treatment of HER-2-overexpressed breast cancer, along with herceptin and/or taxol.
