NGF and Schnyder corneal dystrophy: In a canine post-MI model, the infusion of nerve growth factor (NGF) into the left stellate ganglion (LSG) accelerated the development of nerve sprouting, created sympathetic nerve densities similar to the nerve densities of the cardiac transplant specimens, and resulted in increased incidence of ventricular tachycardia and SCD (Cao et al. 2000).
