ACKR3 and infection: Our finding that the CXCR7 gene, together with LMP-1, accounts for the greater transforming potential of type 1 EBV, compared to type 2, is particularly relevant in light of the fact that two other oncogenic viruses, Kaposi's Sacroma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1), have been shown to up-regulate this gene during infection.
