IL-6 and IL-8 are major proinflammatory cytokines in uveitis and elevated intraocular levels were found repeatedly in the intraocular fluids of patients with uveitis of diverse origins, including ocular toxoplasmosis, viral uveitis, Fuchs heterochromic uveitis syndrome (FHUS) and Behçet’s disease as well as in ocular fluids of children with uveitis [16-18]. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is ocular toxoplasmosis.
