The expression pattern of androgen-regulated genes in androgen-responsive and castration-resistant cell lines was established, with the goal to: (i) determine whether the AR pathway is still functionally active in the hormonal therapy-resistant PC346 cells; (ii) identify the mechanism(s) by which the AR pathway may be adjusted to the low androgen/high antiandrogen levels; (iii) identify androgen-regulated genes that could potentially be used in the diagnosis/prognosis of prostate cancer or as a therapeutic target. This evidence concerns the gene AR and prostate cancer.
