C4A and metabolic syndrome: With regard to the levels of inflammatory markers, patients with metabolic syndrome had significantly higher leukocytes counts (P = 0.0004), fibrinogen (P = 0.0007), C-reactive protein (P < 0.0001), C3 and C4 (P < 0.0001), and IL-6 (P = 0.0373) concentrations and lower albumin levels (P = 0.0146) than the control group.
