Studies from African countries have reported a very high mortality, while the morbidity and mortality in HIV patients with cryptococcal meningitis in developed countries is 2.5–15%.[10–13] Common explanation given in various studies include late presentation with low CD4 counts, Amphotericin B toxicity, uncontrolled raised ICP, focal neurologic deficit and IRIS.
