Based on an initial discovery in the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) http://www.proteinatlas.org[11-13], we have recently demonstrated that tumour-specific expression of RBM3, in particular its nuclear localization, is associated with a significantly improved survival in breast cancer [14] and ovarian cancer [15], and that RBM3 confers cisplatin sensitivity in ovarian cancer cells [15]. The gene discussed is RBM3; the disease is breast carcinoma.
