PEDF is a 50-kDa secreted glycoprotein bearing multiple biological activities [11–15], including potent anti-angiogenic activity, which has been shown to inhibit pathological neovascularization, such as retinal neovascularization, which occurs during proliferative diabetic retinopathy [12, 14, 15]. This evidence concerns the gene SERPINF1 and proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
