RALBP1 and epilepsy: One of these transporters, RLIP76, has been suggested to be involved in AED resistance by transporting both carbamazepine and phenytoin at the blood–brain barrier,[58] but a recent genetic analysis of RLIP76 genotypic and haplotypic frequencies in 783 patients with epilepsy and 359 healthy controls showed no significant differences for genotypic frequencies between drug-resistant and drug-responsive patients.[59]
