It has been reported that DJ-1 immunoreactivity in human brain astrocytes is dependent on infarct presence and infarct age [35], that DJ-1 is expressed in motor neurons after transient spinal cord ischemia in rabbits [36] and that loss of DJ-1 increases the sensitivity to excitotoxicity and ischemia [27]. This evidence concerns the gene PARK7 and spinal cord ischemia.
