Aging [odds ratio (OR) 0.7, 95% confidence intervals (CI) 0.7–0.8], overweight (BMI 25–29.9) (OR 1.7, 95% CI 1.03–2.7) and hypercholesterolemia (OR 1.7, 95% CI 1.2–2.4) were significantly associated with elevated ALT in males only. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and Hypercholesterolemia.
