Adhesion of breast carcinoma lines to tumor fibroblast-matrices induces similar levels of FAK activation regardless of whether the cell lines are chemosensitive or chemoresistant suggesting that the levels of adhesion induced FAK activity do not correlate with chemoresistance and furthermore, it is possible that FAK-independent pathways regulate chemoresistance in breast carcinomas [9], [11]. The gene discussed is PTK2; the disease is breast carcinoma.
