Patients with AKI had marked increase in serum CRP levels and decrease in prealbumin simultaneously when compared with healthy control subjects (6.56 vs. 0.16 mg/dL for median of CRP, p < 0.001; 15.1 ± 6.8 vs. 25.8 ± 5.5 mg/dL for prealbumin, p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and acute kidney injury.
