Because hypoxemia-induced sympathetic activation is thought to be the source of the endocrine abnormalities often seen in patients with OSA, and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) effectively reverses hypoxemia in patients with OSA, we hypothesized that CPAP will decrease insulin resistance, ghrelin and resistin levels and increase adiponectin levels in a group of obese individuals with OSA. Here, INS is linked to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
